About

Mass Participation World (MPW) was founded in 2016 in Singapore by industry veteran and author of Mass Participation Sports Events, Chris Robb, with the initial purpose of facilitating connection and collaboration across the various verticals of the industry through an annual conference.

After five successful years in Singapore the conference has been staged twice in Bangkok, Thailand, including alongside the World Athletics Global Running Conference in 2022. In December 2024 MPW24 will see it return to Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, for the second time as it celebrates the ninth edition.

During that time MPW has evolved to provide a number of other services for the industry including:

CONNECTION

Facilitating global connection across the ecosystem including federations, organisers, rights holders, suppliers, industry coalitions/alliances, governments and NGO’s.

To brands, governments, events and startups

Such as the Mass Participation Ripple Effect Wite Paper in partnership with the Professional Triathletes Organisation (PTO)

Chris, who has now been in the industry for almost 40 years, is globally recognised as a thought leader and sought-after speaker and facilitator. He regularly hosts and helps curate World Athletics Webinars.

EDUCATION

MPW Academy has over 100 hours of free content including 122 episodes of The Aid Station podcast, MPW and World Athletics webinars covering a multitude of topics with global industry experts.

ADVOCACY

Including the MPW Global Council which meets quarterly with representatives from the likes of World Athletics, UCI, World Orienteering and representatives of many of the global alliances and coalitions that represent the industry. In November 2024 the Inaugural MPW Global Leadership Forum will take place in Athens to explore the building blocks needed to create a sustainable global industry
